🔒 Locked Channels now available in beta

Introducing the newest addition to Ostra's moderation suite, Locked Channels can assist in raid mitigation by restricting communication in chat to server moderators. Lock an individual channel, a category, or the entire server all at once. Locked Channels can be managed both through commands and a new dashboard page.

This is a beta release, and additional options will be added in future updates.

🛡️ New permissions for Locked Channels

Two new permissions are now available:

• Interact in Locked Channels

  • Exempts the role from Locked Channels.

  • Permission Level: Moderator

• Lock Channels

  • Allows locking and unlocking channels. Also grants "Interact in Locked Channels".

  • Permission Level: Manager

These permissions are required for properly configuring Locked Channels, they determine which roles will be allowed to manage Locked Channels, and which roles will be allowed to talk in Locked Channels. Learn more from our Locked Channels guide.

💬 Welcome Messages meet Message Builder

Looking for more customization options than the existing Compact or Fancy appearance types? Try out Message Builder instead! One click from the Welcome Messages editor can now load your Welcome Message into Message Builder, allowing full customization of embeds and buttons.

Custom profile pictures and display names are not supported for Welcome Messages at this time.

Message Builder is not supported for Info Messages.

⚔️ Redesigned Punishment History

Punishment History on Discord has been redesigned, providing a more glanceable and easier to interact with experience for browsing punishments on Discord.

🔧 Context in Message Builder

Message Builder now supports automatic and manual selection of message context, which may hide or reveal editor options based on compatibility with a specific message type, and change the presented documentation and syntax highlighting for expressions.

✋ Permissions Changes

For consistency across other Ostra features, additional permission requirements have been added to some configuration changes for Role Menus and Welcome Messages. These changes are all consistency changes to ensure users cannot configure these features to send messages in channels they shouldn't be able to.

🛠️ Dashboard Tweaks and Bug Fixes

Small tweaks and bug fixes have been made to improve the dashboard experience:

• Message Builder message previews no longer have a hover effect.

• Stage, Forum, and Media channels are now properly sent to the dashboard, fixing the appearance of mentions to them in Message Builder and other custom messages.

• Message Builder messages and Welcome Messages can now be configured to be sent in Stage Channels.

• Tags now don't incorrectly display as modified with unsaved changes if configured to use a Message Builder message.

• Resolved miscellaneous issues with features that reference deleted roles.

• Context Menu commands now appear in the commands list.

• Updated older Help Center articles with updated features added in newer versions of Ostra.

🛠️ Discord Bot Tweaks and Bug Fixes

Small tweaks and bug fixes have been made to improve the Discord bot experience:

• Added a more specific error message for when /userinfo is used to target a member that isn't in the server.

• Removed legacy /messages [join/leave] [view/preview] commands.

• The Punishment History view now has Inspect and Revert buttons inlined below each punishment.

• Reverting a punishment from the Punishment History view now opens a modal to specify a reason.

🛠️ Overall Tweaks and Bug Fixes

Other small tweaks and bug fixes have been made to improve the overall experience:

• Role Menus now require communication permissions in all affected channels when creating or updating Role Menus.

  • Creating a new Role Menu or updating an existing Role Menu in the same channel: requires communication permissions in the target channel.

  • Moving a Role Menu between two channels: requires communication permissions in both channels.

  • These operations originally did, and still require the Manage Role Menus permission.

• Changing mention roles or mention everyone permissions for Tags or configuring new Tags with these options now requires the Mention @everyone, @here, and All Roles permission server-wide.

  • These operations originally did, and still require the Manage Tags permission.

• Extra spaces are truncated from the ends of URLs to prevent difficult to locate errors in Message Builder messages.
