"In the days before the Last City, there were no Guardians..."

The Golden Age is over.

The Collapse came without mercy, leaving humanity broken beneath the ruins of a civilization that once reached the stars. Entire cities lie silent. Golden Age machines continue their work with no one left to command them. The Traveler hangs motionless in the sky, offering no answers to those left behind.

Nearly a century has passed.

Ghosts still wander the wasteland, searching for the dead they were created to revive. Those chosen awaken with no memory of who they once were, armed only with the Light and the quiet guidance of the small machine that found them.

Far from the ruins of the Cosmodrome and centuries before the rise of the Last City lies The Reach, a forgotten stretch of North America scarred by the Collapse.

Ancient highways disappear beneath forests reclaimed by time. Small settlements cling to life behind rusted walls. Fallen raiders descend from the mountains in search of Ether and forgotten technology, while ambitious Warlords carve kingdoms from humanity's desperation.

Beneath it all lies the Appalachian Dead Zone, known simply as the ADZ.

No one knows what happened there.

Only that those who enter rarely return.
