Attack the argument, never the person.

Real Politics

A server for people who disagree — and can handle it.

Real Politics is where people from every country and every position on the spectrum come to argue about politics properly. Not to be agreed with. Not to preach to people who already agree. To actually be challenged, and to find out whether their position survives contact with someone who thinks they're wrong.

Left, right, centre, libertarian, socialist, conservative, anarchist, nationalist, progressive — everyone is welcome here, provided you argue in good faith.

One rule above all the others

Attack the argument, never the person.

Disagree as hard as you want. Call a policy catastrophic. Take apart someone's reasoning line by line. What you cannot do is treat the people who disagree with you as less than human. That single distinction is what makes a political server survivable, and it's what our staff spend most of their time protecting.

What's here

Debate channels — General politics, domestic affairs, international, economics and ideology. Plus a dedicated debate arena with its own rules: steelman your opponent, source your claims, and concede what's true. Conceding a point isn't losing here.

Spectator channel — Follow a debate in progress and comment without interrupting it.

Hot takes — A looser channel for sharper opinions, unlocked as you level.

Ideology & region roles — Tell people where you stand and where you're from. Six self-assign menus covering ideology, region, economics, age and notification pings. All cosmetic.

A levelling system that actually unlocks things — 12 ranks from Bystander to Head of State. Higher levels open the debate arena, the inner circle, and the senate. Top members get a permanent place on the Hall of Fame board.

Moderated properly

This isn't a server where the rules are decoration.

  • Every moderation action is a numbered case. You're told what happened, why, how long it lasts, and whether you can appeal it.
  • Warnings are permanent and there's no automatic escalation — a human decides every punishment.
  • Real appeals. Every case can be appealed, and appeals work in DMs — so they work even if you've been banned.
  • Staff hold no special Discord permissions. Everything they do runs through our bot, so every action is logged and attributable. That protects members from quiet staff decisions, and protects staff from accusations.
  • Ordinary swearing isn't filtered. This is a debate server. What is filtered is hate speech, dehumanisation and calls for violence — and those aren't political positions, they're the floor.

Before you join

  • You must be 15 or over.
  • There's a short verification gate — read the rules, accept them, and you're in.
  • New members can't post files until level 15. It's the main way throwaway accounts spread malware, and it keeps the server not worth attacking.
  • Message content is logged for 60 days so moderators can act on things people delete. Full details are in our handbook.

Read before you commit

We publish a complete public handbook — every rule and what it actually means in practice, how moderation and appeals work, and exactly what gets logged:

Worth ten minutes if you're deciding whether this is your kind of place.
