Announce GitHub releases, tags, and commits in your Discord server. Subscribe any public repo in one command.

RepoDrop

Keep your community up to date with the GitHub projects it cares about. Subscribe a channel to any public repository, and RepoDrop posts every new release, tag, or commit as soon as it's out.

What it announces

  • Releases: with release notes, or in a compact style without them
  • Tags: whenever a new version is tagged
  • Commits: grouped per push, on the branches you choose (up to 5 per subscription)
  • Pre-releases: optional, per subscription

Every announcement has View and Compare buttons, so the full release or the exact changes are one click away.

Get started in one command

/repodrop subscribe repo:owner/name Paste a repo name or a GitHub link. RepoDrop records the repo's current state, so nothing old is re-announced, only what's new from then on. Add tags:true or commits:true for more, or run the command again to change a subscription.

Built for servers of any size

  • Roles and permissions: everyone can subscribe by default, or limit it to a role. Managers can change and remove any subscription.
  • /repodrop settings: set a manager role, a subscriber role, a default channel, and the announcement style.
  • /repodrop status: a health report for every subscription, with live permission checks.
  • /repodrop latest: look up any repo's newest release without subscribing.
  • Looks after itself: if a channel is deleted, a repo disappears, or a branch is removed, RepoDrop pauses that subscription and tells your admins how to fix it.
  • Mistakes are recoverable: remove RepoDrop by accident? Your subscriptions and settings are kept for 7 days, and re-adding the bot restores everything.

Respectful by design

  • Never pings anyone: all mentions in announcements are disabled.
  • Can't read your messages: slash commands only, with no message-content access.
  • Minimal permissions: only View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links.
  • Public repositories only: it never asks for access to your GitHub account.
